Bulgarians would rather work than cease their economic activity before the term set. These are the results from the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) commissioned survey, examining people’s attitudes before and after superannuation. NSSF director, Mr Yordan Christochkov, made a presentation entitled “Resourceful Superannuation and Pensioners’ Labour Encouragement”.
The survey shows that most people would work without signing a contract, which implies of informal employment; i.e. most people would like to continue working, simultaneously receiving the secured income of the pension. Surprisingly these results contradict the opinion that the pensioning off age is quite advanced.
“Buying” labour length of service via fraud is found condemnable and people would not practise it. The early pensioning off is a tolerable policy, especially by the unemployed, women and people living in villages where employment levels are low, as a rule.
The policy opportunities of earlier pensioning off are well met, but people approaching the superannuation age say such “easy” solutions are not the best option, judging from that the longer length of service, the better.
The factors denying access to the superannuation system are, first, the pensioning off age (women’s especially), the past and future unemployment periods as well as the “forced” unregulated employment. The citizens which are placed in the critical group of those who might not obtain security rights are to be included in a special superannuation support programme. More than half of these people are expected to be able to meet the requirements. NSSF representatives said for INSURANCE.BG that the survey objective was to make the social attitudes towards the superannuation system clear.
