Sixty kilometres of motorways are planned to be constructed and launched in 2006, Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev said at the opening of Transport Infrastructure 2006 - 2015 Forum. ‘Bulgaria's National Development Plan for 2007 - 2013 will be adopted conclusively in the spring and it is expected to include the main infrastructure priorities in various sectors. This is directly connected with the implementation of the operational programmes, which Bulgaria has to accomplish as an EU member-state, I believe as of January 2007,’ Stanishev added. He expressed his belief that Bulgaria is going to realize a considerable part of its infrastructure and road priority projects using the European funds. ‘It is also important to discuss beforehand the most effective and advantageous avenues to use the funds,’ the Prime minister said. In his opinion, the authorities should also pay attention to the second-class roads in the country, which are of great social importance. ‘We should not allow the financing from the Euro funds to be used for highways only,’ Stanishev said.
