For 2005 the GSM-operator has reported net profits exceeding BGN 51 million
Until the end of the year GloBul would change its trade name and would operate from then on under the trademark COSMOTE, the Executive Director of GloBul Tanasis Katsirubas announced. The leading
Greek operator COSMOTE acquired at the beginning of August 2005 100 percent of the stock of the second Bulgarian GSM operator.
Company’s profits for 2005 exceed BGN 51 million thus registering a considerable improvement of the financial results after the loss amounting to BGN 16 million registered in 2004. Operative
expenditures went up by 54 percent compared with the previous year and amount to BGN 536 million. The total jump of income is mainly attributable to the rise of monthly fees incomings, talks, SMS-s
and data transfer. The company has also reported a rise by 47% in the numbers of its clients, which have reached 2,393,717 people.
The proportion between customers using pre-paid services and those using subscription services is correspondingly 67 to 33 percent. The second operator provides presently services on 97% of the
territory of the country.
Furthermore, there has been a considerable increase in the number of GloBuls’s roaming-partners, which number currently 289 operators in 134 countries.
The company is proud over the first solution integrated in the country with relation to the so called fixed and mobile telephone network (or mobile virtual private network - MVPN), as well as over
the first SIM-card supporting two GSM-numbers – GloBul 2 in 1.
