There are problems in more than half of the regions of the capital
Five Regional Mayors have issued penalties to construction sites in the quarters they are responsible for. According to the acts issued construction works shall stop on the grounds they foul the streets of the city, BTV announced.
Construction sites have already received several similar administrative acts each on the same grounds. More than 20 sites in Sofia have been imposed sanctions for failing to meet the requirements for preserving the streets of the capital, which would result in more severe sanctions on them. More than half of the regions in Sofia City have similar problems. Amongst them are: ‘Krasno Selo’, ‘Vazrazhdane’, ‘Serdika’, ‘Slatina’, ‘Mladost’ and ‘Lyulin’. Investigations have been carried out on more than 1500 problem sites and about 40 penalties have been imposed.
At the end of the last year the Mayor of Sofia City Boiko Borisov and the Sofia City Prosecutor Boiko Naidenov agreed that construction sites ailing to meet the municipality requirements and damaging its infrastructure shall be closed and not only imposed penalties. Over 1100 construction sites in Sofia City are considered problematic.
